SINGLE IN THE CITY Southern Courier 4.1.11
A NEW survey has shown that the Eastern Suburbs ranks number one in Sydney when it comes to single women looking for love.
Relationship website eHarmony has found that women in the Eastern Suburbs were 61 per cent more likely than the national average to be looking for love, topped only by the Fleurieu Peninsula region of south-west South Australia.
Australia’s love hot spots - the places across the country where there are more singles looking for love - have also been revealed and Alexandria placed third in the top five hot spots in the state.
Single women in the suburb loved the community feel of the suburb as well as its “indie” attitude and proximity to the city.
So, where do the single women of Alexandria head? Sophie McManus, 18, says Love Grub on Mitchell Rd is her favourite hangout.
The licensed cafe is a perfect vfit for the trendy suburb with its community garden patch, worm farms and wall murals, as well as a fusion menu served during the day that makes way for Japanese, branded as Japas, in the evening.
The Buckland Hotel, also on Mitchell Rd, was also a favourite spot for singles who live in Alexandria.
